christmas-cat-paint-by-numbers
Christmas Cat Paint by Numbers Kit

A ginger kitten in a Santa hat sits very still and very good beside a shiny red bauble, looking up with big green eyes as if it has definitely not been near the tree. It is a sweet, funny Christmas portrait that any cat lover will recognise, and it makes an easy gift.

Why it works for beginners

The kitten's coat is built from broad bands of ginger, orange and cream, with the stripes as a few soft shapes, so the sections are big and forgiving. The background is a single sweep from deep green to cream with nothing in it. The bauble is one round shape with a bright highlight, and the hat is two bold blocks. The eyes are the one place to slow down, so leave them until you have got into the rhythm.

Time and colours

At 40x50cm most painters finish in six to nine hours. 24 colours is plenty for a first kit, and 36 colours gives the fur and the shine on the bauble a softer finish.

Picking a size

An upright design with the kitten filling the canvas. 30x40cm makes a neat gift, and 40x50cm gives the face and whiskers more room.

Painting the kitten well

Do the background first, then the coat from darkest to lightest, then the hat and bauble. Add the white highlights on the eyes and bauble right at the end. If you would rather paint your own cat, our custom pet kits work the same way, and our year-round Colourful Cat Portrait is another easy one. More festive designs are in our Christmas collection, and our Christmas order-by dates show when to order for a gift.

What you get, delivery and returns

The kit comes with a pre-printed numbered canvas, numbered acrylic paint pots matched to your colour count, three brushes (fine, medium and broad), a full-colour reference print and a getting started guide, all packed in a gift box.

Sizes: 20x30, 30x40, 40x50, 50x60 or 60x70cm. Colours: 24, 36 or 48, and more colours means finer detail and a longer paint. Frame: No Frame (the canvas comes rolled, with a blank border so you can frame it later), DIY Frame (four wooden frame pieces to build it yourself, thumb tacks to attach the canvas and hangers) or Pre-Framed (mounted on its frame and ready to hang when you finish).

Delivery is free worldwide and tracked.
