Getting Started
Painting Tips
What order should I paint the numbers in?
Most painters work one colour at a time — fill in every area marked '1', then every area marked '2', and so on. This is faster and uses less paint. Some prefer to work top-to-bottom, or by section. Both work.
Should I paint dark or light colours first?
Either approach works, but darks-first is the most common. Painting darks first gives you a clear contrast map for the rest of the painting. Lights last lets you cover any small mistakes from earlier strokes.
The paint is too thick or too dry — what do I do?
Add a tiny drop of water to the pot, stir gently with the back of a brush, and try again. If a pot has dried out completely, message us and we'll send a replacement free of charge.
How do I get clean edges?
Use the fine brush, paint slowly, and wipe the brush on paper towel between strokes. If you go over an edge, wait for it to dry then paint over with the neighbouring number — the canvas hides any small overlap.
Can I varnish my finished painting? Do you sell varnish?
Yes — a clear acrylic varnish protects the painting and gives it a uniform gloss or matte finish. Some kits include a small varnish pot. If yours doesn't, any acrylic varnish from an art shop works.
How do I avoid leaving brush marks?
Three things help: use the right brush size for the area, work with paint that's the right thickness (water it down slightly if it's pulling), and paint in long even strokes rather than short dabs.

Custom Kits
How does the custom kit work?
You upload a photo through our custom kit page. We turn it into a paint by numbers design — pre-printed canvas, numbered paints, brushes — and ship it to you. Most painters use a photo of a pet, a person, a wedding, or a place that means something.
What kind of photo works best?
High resolution, good lighting, and a clear subject. Phone photos are usually fine if they're sharp. Avoid heavy filters, dark or blurry images, and faces in deep shadow. Square or close-to-square photos crop best on the canvas.
Can I see a preview before I commit?
Yes. We send you a preview of the design within 24 hours of your order. If it doesn't look right, tell us — we'll tweak it or refund you. Nothing ships until you're happy.
How long until my custom kit arrives?
Custom kits are dispatched within 5 working days of us receiving your photo — this covers design, production, and packing. Delivery then takes 5–7 working days for UK, US, Australia, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand, or 10–14 working days elsewhere. We'll email you at every step with updates.
Can I order multiple custom kits?
Yes — order each one separately so each has its own preview. If you're after bulk (5+ for a wedding, party, or corporate gift), get in touch and we'll sort it.
What if I don't like the preview?
Tell us what to change and we'll redo it. If we can't get it right, we refund you in full. No painting is shipped until you've approved the design.

Shipping
Where do you ship from?
We have two production hubs — a UK warehouse in York and a US partner workshop. Your order is routed to the closest one automatically, which is how we ship in days, not weeks.
How long does UK delivery take?
Standard kits are dispatched within 3–5 working days. UK delivery typically takes 5–7 working days after dispatch. Custom kits take 5 working days to dispatch (design, production, and packing), then 5–7 working days for delivery — so allow around 10–12 working days end-to-end for custom orders.
How long does US delivery take?
Standard kits are dispatched within 3–5 working days. US delivery typically takes 5–7 working days after dispatch. Custom kits take 5 working days to dispatch (design, production, and packing), then 5–7 working days for delivery — so allow around 10–12 working days end-to-end for custom orders.
Do you ship to the EU, Australia, and the rest of the world?
Yes — we ship worldwide. Standard kits are dispatched within 3–5 working days; custom kits within 5 working days. Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Europe typically receive orders within 5–7 working days of dispatch. More remote international destinations take 10–14 working days. Tracking is included on every order.
How much is shipping?
Free shipping worldwide — no minimum purchase required. Standard kits are dispatched within 3–5 working days; custom kits within 5 working days. UK, US, Australia, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand then receive orders within 5–7 working days of dispatch. All other destinations take 10–14 working days.
How do I track my order?
You'll get a tracking link by email as soon as your order ships. You can also visit our tracking page any time.
My order's late — what should I do?
If it's been more than 14 days (UK, US, Australia, Canada, Europe, or New Zealand) or 21 days for other international destinations, message us with your order number. We'll check in with the courier and sort it.
Will I be charged customs or import duty?
We ship from our UK and US warehouses. Your order is routed to the closest hub, so most customers won't face any unexpected duty. International orders outside these regions may be subject to local import taxes — these vary by country and we can't predict them in advance.
Returns
What's your returns policy?
Standard kits can be returned within 30 days of delivery if they're unopened and in original packaging. Email us first and we'll talk you through it.
Can I return a custom kit?
Custom kits are made to your photo, so we can't accept returns once they've shipped. That's why we send a preview first — nothing ships until you've approved the design.
I've started painting and changed my mind — can I return it?
Once a kit's been opened and painted on, we can't accept it back. If something's wrong with the kit itself though — missing paints, damaged canvas — let us know and we'll fix it free.
What if my kit arrives damaged?
Photo the damage and email us within 7 days of delivery. We'll send a free replacement of the affected part — or the whole kit if needed — at our cost.
I've run out of paint — can I get more?
Yes, free, every time. Reply to your order email or message us with the colour number and we'll send a replacement pot. No charge, no quibble.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes. Standard kits can be returned within 30 days for a refund. Quality issues are replaced free. Run out of paint? We send more, free. We'd rather you walk away happy than save a few quid.
Frames
Do kits come with a frame?
Most kits ship without a frame so they fit standard sizes you can buy anywhere. We do offer pre-framed options on some kit sizes — pick the framed variant on the product page.
What size frame do I need?
The same size as your canvas. Our standard sizes are 30×40cm, 40×50cm, and 50×60cm. Most local framers and online frame shops carry these as standard.
Where can I get a frame to fit?
Any local art shop, IKEA, or online frame retailers (search for your canvas size — 30×40, 40×50, or 50×60cm). If you've bought a custom kit and want a matching frame, message us — we can ship one separately.
Can I roll up my finished painting?
Once the paint is fully dry — 24 to 48 hours after your last brushstroke — you can carefully roll the canvas with the painted side facing out. Don't fold it. Mounting on a stretcher or framing is the better long-term option.
How do I hang an unframed canvas?
Either mount it on a wooden stretcher (which pulls the canvas tight) or use canvas-mounting tape and a small picture hanger. Stretching gives the cleanest finish.
Gifting
Can I send a kit as a gift?
Yes. Add a different shipping address at checkout, leave a gift message in the cart notes, and we'll keep the price off the packing slip.
Can I include a gift message?
Yes — there's a gift message field at checkout. We hand-write it on a card and include it in the package.
Do you do gift cards?
Yes — gift cards are available from £10 upwards. They're emailed to the recipient with a personal message from you.
What's the best kit for a beginner, a couple, or a child?
For first-time painters, pick a Beginner-level 30×40cm landscape or pet kit. For couples, our larger 50×60cm kits make a nice shared project. Children 10+ can do Beginner kits comfortably; under-10s might need help.
Can you ship to a different address?
Yes — at checkout, choose 'ship to a different address' and enter the recipient's details. Pricing stays off the packing slip when you mark it as a gift.
Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, Clearpay, Shop Pay, and PayPal. Available payment options may vary by region.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes — Klarna, Clearpay, and Shop Pay all offer interest-free instalment options. The option appears at checkout if you qualify (availability varies by region).
Can I change or cancel my order?
If your order hasn't shipped yet, message us right away and we'll change or cancel it. Once it's shipped we can't recall it, but you can return a standard kit for a refund.
Do you take phone orders?
We don't, but our live chat is the next best thing. Message us and we'll walk you through ordering, sizing, and payment in real time. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
I have a discount code — how do I use it?
Enter it in the 'Discount code' box at checkout. Codes can't be combined unless we say otherwise.
Is my payment secure?
Yes — we use Shopify Payments, which is PCI Level 1 certified. We never see or store your card details.
Still got questions?
We genuinely don't mind. We'd rather you message us than guess. Email, live chat, or use our contact form — every message goes to Marcus or Sarah, and we reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.

We ship from our UK and US warehouses. Your order is routed to the closest hub, so most customers won't face any unexpected duty. International orders outside these regions may be subject to local import taxes — these vary by country and we can't predict them in advance.
